Professional History
After obtaining my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential in 1999, from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, I moved back to Ventura, where I grew up. I began substitute teaching in the Ventura Unified School District, then I taught P.E. for a year at E.P Foster Elementary School. In the Fall of 2000, I started teaching at Lincoln Elementary School. After teaching the 3rd grade for four years I then taught 5th grade for two. While working at Lincoln, I received my Masters in Education Technology and Learning from Azusa Pacific University, which allowed me to transfer to De Anza Middle School for the 2006-2007 school year to teach Computer Literacy and Graphic Arts. In the Fall of 2007 I came to Balboa where I teach the Computer Skills classes and the Yearbook class.
My interest in computers started back in the 1990's when I went off to college after graduating from Ventura High School. It was in college that I had my first experience with e-mail and the internet. Before college, my computer experience consisted of playing video games and typing papers for school. While in college I started developing my skills as a musician. It was music that was the catalyst for furthering my interest in computers. After learning about multi track recording, using an analog recorder, I quickly saw the potential of using computers to digitally record music. This was the beginning of my education in the use of computers to create multimedia projects. Along with making music, I began making videos and developing my skills as a graphic artist and web designer. The best thing about being interested in technology is it is always changing and allowing us to do more and more.
In 2010 I became the head coach for the boys basketball team here at Balboa. In 2011 I also started coaching the girls team. Basketball has been a passion of mine since the 1st grade. I was fortunate enough to be able to play three years of varsity basketball at Ventura High School back in the late 1990's. I still play as much as possible and I really enjoy running the basketball program here at Balboa!
