For this assignment you will create a personal profile flyer using Google Docs
Specific Computer Skills That Determine Your Grade:
-Inserting a Word Art title of your name
-Writing an autobiography
-Importing your self portrait and at least 3 pictures that represent you
-Putting borders around rectangular pictures
-Lining up your text and pictures with even and appropriate spacing
-Having a unified Color Scheme
1. Go to Google Drive and start a new Google Doc.
2. Title
Create a title of your first and last name by clicking Insert > Drawing > New. Then click on the Actions button and select Word Art.
To move it, click on the title and select the Wrap Text button (2nd from the left). Also, change the setting from Move with text to Fix position on page.
3. Margins and Page Color
Once you have your title centered on the page by clicking on the center justification button, click on File > Page Setup and adjust all of your margins to .5 inches. (DON'T FORGET THE PERIOD. YOU DON'T WANT IT TO BE 5 INCHES. YOU WANT IT TO BE HALF AN INCH)
*** While you are in the Page Setup, you should also pick a page color. ***
4. Writing your Autobiography
You need to write at least one good sentence about each topic below. Include an introductory sentence and a conclusion.
Don't worry about the size of your words. You can change it after you have added everything. It may need to be adjusted bigger or smaller to make sure everything fits on one page.
Your Personality - Are you easy going? Moody? Nice? Mean? Type A? Happy? A little bit of everything?
Your Family - Include all individuals that you consider to be apart of your immediate family (Mom, Dad, brothers, sisters, etc.)
Your Friends - Don't list them, explain things you like to do together.
Hobbies - What you like to do in your spare time.
Where You Live - Explain about where you live. Don't put your exact address!
Your Heroes or Role Models (people you look up to and/or respect) - Explain why they are your heroes or role models.
Music - What is your favorite style or styles of music? Give examples.
Career Goals -What do you want to do for a living when you are an adult?
5. Self Portrait and Pictures
Insert your self portrait and 3 pictures that represent you.
Self Portrait
In Google Docs, click Insert > Image > Upload from Computer and find your picture in your Downloads folder.
To move it, click on the self portrait and select the Wrap Text button (2nd from the left). Also, change the setting from Move with text to Fix position on page.
You may need to resize it and put it at the top of the words and along the margin, like my example.
Pictures
You need to have at least 3 pictures in your profile that represent you or things you like to do. To add pictures, go to Insert > Image and select Search the web.
When the picture appears on your page, click on it and select Wrap Text (second button from the left that shows up after you click on it). Change the setting from Move with text to Fix position on page. This will allow you to move it to the bottom.
For this project I want your pictures that represent you at the bottom. Your self portrait should be the only picture in the the words.
Picture Borders - Rectangular or square pictures, including your self-portrait, need to have borders around them. Click on the picture and select the Border Color tool (little pencil icon above the page).
Pay close attention to how mine is laid out. The self portrait is not in the margin and it is even with the top of the words. The pictures at the bottom are lined up evenly. Look at the spacing between pictures.
Use the checklist to make sure you have everything you need and that it is well designed.
When you "think" you are finished...
- compare it to my example
- have 2-3 students look at it to see what they think
- If you all agree that it is done, get Mr. Anter's attention and see what he thinks.
- When Mr. Anter approves it, go to File > Download > PDF and turn the PDF version in on Canvas.
