Specific Computer Skills That Determine Your Grade

-Importing pictures and music.

-Inserting new slides.

-Putting borders around rectangular pictures.

-Animating Text and Pictures.

-Citing pictures in a Bibliography.

Open the checklist and use it to help guide your project.

IMPORTANT! READ CAREFULLY!!!

When collecting pictures from the internet, make sure you put the URL (i.e. www.igotmypicturehere.com) of the website that the picture comes from in your bibliography (last slide) as you go - The pictures DO NOT come from google.com or bing.com. Google and Bing just point you to the website where the picture actually comes from.

Open Microsoft PowerPoint - Red "P" icon on the task bar on the bottom of your screen.

Background Design: Pick a background color or theme by going to the Design Tab.

DO NOT use a picture as your background. Use one of the slide designs.

2. Title Slide

Slide 1 - Title Slide: Include your first and last name, a quote that represent you, self-portrait, an audio greeting, and a song you have created with Mixcraft. You will also add animations to your title, quote, and picture.

(Skip the audio greeting and the song until they have been completed. You can finish your song when you have done everything else for this project.)

Advanced Challenge - Watch this video to add a picture into your title: https://youtube.com/shorts/fBp2iSx4RlY?si=-uXVFDZJTzNzSK7t

Self Portrait

Self Portrait - Open your self portrait in Google Drawings. Click on File > Download as > JPEG image (.jpg). When Prompted, navigate to your Documents folder and save.

To put it on the first slide, while in PowerPoint, click Insert > Picture and navigate to your self portrait.

Put a border on your picture. Click on your picture then click Format > Picture Border. Select a color and adjust the "weight".

Audio Greeting

Audio Greeting - At some point Mr. Anter will have you record an audio greeting for your project. When you have done this, follow the steps below.

(If you do not have an audio greeting, skip this part for now)

    1. In PowerPoint click on Insert > Audio > Audio on My PC and and navigate to your audio greeting in your Documents folder and click OK.

    2. Click on Animations tab and click on the Animation Pane button. On the right column click and drag your audio greeting to the top of the list so it is the first thing to happen when you start your show.

Song

Open Mixcraft on your desktop (Soundtrap.com is a free online alternative. Tutorial: https://www.soundtrap.com/home/creator/tutorials.)

Song Directions  - Click on the words "Song Directions" to the left for directions on Mixcraft.

(Skip the song until you have done all of your slides. It is the last thing you should work on.)

Animations

Animations - All of your words and images need to be animated for each slide. You can use slide transitions, but they do not count as Animations.

    1. Click on your name.

    2. Go to the "Animations" tab and select a green "Entrance".

    3. Click on your quote and repeat step 2.

    4. Click on your self portrait and repeat step 2 again.

Only use "Entrances" (THE GREEN ONES).

The title should come in first, then the writing, and last should be your picture(s).

Animation Order

When you have everything on Slide 1, the "Animation Pane" should show the audio greeting, song, title, and picture in that order. If they are out of order, you can click and drag them up or down accordingly.

3. Slides 2-10

To insert a new slide, click on the New Slide button under the Home tab.

For slides 2-9, title each slide, copy and paste what you wrote on your Personal Profile for the slide topic and add at least one picture that go with the theme of that slide.

Slide 2

Your Personality - Are you easy going? Moody? Nice? Mean? Type A? Happy? A little bit of everything?

Slide 3

Your Family - Do you have a big family? Small family? What do you guys like to do together?

Slide 4

Your Friends - Don't list them, explain things you like to do together.

Slide 5

Hobbies - What you like to do in your spare time.

Slide 6

Where You Live - Tell us what city you live in and what you live near. Don't put your address or street name!

Slide 7

Your Heroes or Role Models (people you look up to and/or respect) - Explain why they are your heroes or role models.

Slide 8

Music - What is your favorite style or styles of music? Give examples.

Slide 9

Slide 10

Bibliography - Make sure you put the URL of the website that the picture comes from in your bibliography.

The URL is the website where the picture comes from. Google and Bing just find them for you. Google and Bing are not the websites where the pictures come from. DO NOT PUT GOOGLE AND/OR BING IN YOUR BIBLIOGRAPHY!!!

Pictures

You can add pictures by going to Insert > Online Pictures. This will take you to a Bing Search Engine window. Bing does not own the pictures, it just finds them for you. Make sure you copy and past the URL (website address) into the Bibliography slide.

The picture is not supposed to become the background for the slide. It needs to be smaller and have a border around it if it is rectangular (has a background in it). Images that dont' have a background should not have a border.

    - To put a border on your picture, click on your picture then click Format > Picture Border. Select a color and adjust the "weight".

DO NOT use a picture as your background. Use one of the slide designs.

Make sure you put the URL (i.e. www.igotmypicturehere.com) of the website that the picture comes from in your bibliography as you go - The pictures DO NOT come from google.com or bing.com. Google and Bing just point you to the website where the picture actually comes from.

Check the checklist - Are all of the boxes checked?
